Punjab Introduces Monitoring Squad for Water Filtration Plants
The Punjab government has announced new measures aimed at improving the monitoring of water filtration plants across the province and ensuring the continued availability of safe drinking water for residents.
The initiatives were discussed during a review meeting of the Punjab Saaf Pani Authority chaired by Housing Minister Bilal Yasin. Officials reviewed the operational performance of filtration plants and explored ways to enhance service delivery.
According to officials, the complaint management system is being upgraded to improve response times and facilitate quicker resolution of public concerns related to water supply and filtration services.
As part of the new monitoring framework, a dedicated inspection squad equipped with 100 motorbikes will be deployed across Punjab. The team will conduct regular inspections of water filtration plants to assess functionality and help maintain quality standards.
The authority is also working to strengthen its helpline service (1336) to ensure timely handling of complaints. In addition, geotagging and photographic verification tools will be used to support monitoring efforts and improve transparency.
Officials stated that water quality testing facilities will be upgraded to help ensure compliance with safety standards. The government also plans to prioritize water supply projects in remote and underserved areas.
Speaking during the meeting, Minister Bilal Yasin emphasized the importance of expanding access to clean drinking water and directed relevant departments to expedite ongoing projects in areas with limited services.
The meeting also reviewed future plans for the authority, with officials expressing confidence that enhanced monitoring systems and improved complaint handling mechanisms will contribute to more efficient service delivery across the province.
