Punjab Auqaf Department Takes Disciplinary Action Against Former Data Darbar Officials

The Punjab Auqaf Department has taken disciplinary action against several former officials and staff members associated with Data Darbar following an internal inquiry into financial and administrative irregularities.

According to official findings, the department conducted a detailed review of donation management procedures at the shrine. During a monitoring period, authorities observed a significant increase in recorded donations, prompting a broader investigation into operational practices and accountability measures.

The inquiry was carried out under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (PEEDA) Act, 2006. Following the completion of the investigation and personal hearings, the competent authority announced a series of disciplinary measures against the individuals concerned.

The penalties include demotion, removal from service, forfeiture of service benefits, restrictions on future postings, and recovery of funds in accordance with the findings of the inquiry.

Officials stated that administrative actions were taken after reviewing available evidence and ensuring due process under the applicable rules and regulations.

The Auqaf Department also introduced additional restrictions on certain former employees, particularly regarding future assignments involving financial management, revenue collection, and sensitive administrative responsibilities.

Punjab Auqaf Secretary Dr. Ehsan Bhutta emphasized the importance of transparency, accountability, and responsible management of public donations. He stated that maintaining public trust in religious and charitable institutions remains a top priority for the department.

The department further noted that monitoring efforts have been expanded at several major shrines across Punjab. According to officials, enhanced oversight has contributed to improved documentation and reporting of donations at multiple religious sites.

Authorities say these measures are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen governance, improve financial controls, and ensure greater transparency in the management of public contributions.
