UAE Imposes Temporary Visa Restrictions on Nationals of Three African Countries
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced precautionary travel measures affecting nationals of three African countries in response to public health concerns related to Ebola.
According to official authorities, the measures are part of preventive steps to strengthen health safety and reduce potential risks linked to international travel.
Countries Affected
The restrictions apply to travelers from:
- Democratic Republic of the Congo
- Uganda
- South Sudan
What the Measures Include
Under the new guidelines, the UAE has temporarily suspended the issuance of new visas, including visit visas, for nationals of the affected countries.
Entry restrictions will also apply to individuals traveling from these destinations, even if they transit through other countries before arriving in the UAE.
Exemptions and Conditions
Authorities stated that travelers who have stayed outside the listed countries for more than 21 consecutive days before entering the UAE may be exempt from the restrictions.
Implementation and Duration
The measures came into effect on June 6 at 1:00 p.m. and will remain in place temporarily. Officials noted that the policy may be extended depending on global health conditions.
Other Travel Operations Unaffected
Despite the restrictions, cargo services and transit flights between the UAE and the affected countries will continue to operate normally.
Ongoing Monitoring
UAE authorities said they are closely monitoring international health developments and may adjust travel policies if required to ensure public safety.
