Around 600 Sikh Pilgrims Arrive in Pakistan for Jore Mela Commemorations

Approximately 600 Sikh pilgrims from India entered Pakistan through the Wagah Border on Wednesday to participate in the Jore Mela, marking the death anniversary of Guru Arjun Dev Ji.

The visiting pilgrims were warmly received by officials from the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), Punjab’s minority affairs representatives, and members of the Pakistan Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee at Wagah.

Officials stated that all pilgrims who applied for visas were granted permission to attend the religious events, reflecting ongoing arrangements to facilitate religious tourism and interfaith harmony.

According to ETPB representatives, this year’s gathering is significant as it brings a large number of pilgrims after several years. They added that comprehensive arrangements have been made for accommodation, transport, medical support, and security.

Special measures have also been taken to manage the summer heat, including additional facilities for pilgrims at key locations. Security arrangements include surveillance systems to ensure the safety of visitors throughout their stay.

Representatives of the visiting Sikh delegation expressed gratitude for the hospitality and described Pakistan’s religious sites as spiritually significant. They also highlighted hopes for continued peaceful exchanges and goodwill between the two countries.
