Lahore Electric Tram Project Route and Progress Details Announced
Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar has shared updates on Lahore’s upcoming electric tram project, confirming that the contract process has been completed and procurement work is currently in progress.
According to the minister, the electric tram service is expected to begin operations in the next fiscal year, marking a new development in the city’s public transport system.
He stated that earlier proposals for a full metro-style infrastructure were revised, and the current plan focuses on a more streamlined tram-based system.
Officials also confirmed that environmental considerations have been taken into account, and no trees will be removed for the project.
Proposed Route
The planned tram route will start from the Central Business District (CBD), pass through Jail Road and Mall Road, and end at Istanbul Chowk.
Authorities say the project is aimed at improving urban mobility and providing an efficient transport option for daily commuters in Lahore.
