Justin Rose Targets Another Major at Shinnecock but Says Legacy Already Secure

Justin Rose says he is motivated to win another major championship as he prepares for the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills, but believes additional victories would not redefine his career.

The English golfer remains focused on adding to his major tally, more than a decade after winning the 2013 U.S. Open.

Strong Career Achievements

Rose has come close to adding more major titles in recent years, including a runner-up finish at the Masters last year, where he lost in a playoff.

Despite those near misses, the 45-year-old says his career achievements already place him among golf’s elite, pointing to his Olympic gold medal, world number one ranking, and multiple PGA Tour victories.

“It Doesn’t Change My Career”

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Rose said that while he would welcome more success, additional major wins would not change how he views his career.

He emphasized his appreciation for what he has already accomplished while still maintaining the desire to compete at the highest level.

A Decorated Career

Rose won Olympic gold at Rio 2016, becoming the first Olympic golf champion in over a century. He later captured the FedEx Cup title in 2018 and reached world number one in 2019.

With more than $78 million in career earnings and continued strong performances, including a win earlier this season at Torrey Pines and a top-three finish at the Masters, Rose remains a competitive force on the tour.

Looking Ahead at Shinnecock

As he returns to another major championship stage, Rose will aim to challenge for a second U.S. Open title at one of golf’s most demanding venues.
