KP Government Sets Deadline to Upgrade 32 District Headquarters Hospitals
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has directed authorities to complete the restoration and modernization of all 32 District Headquarters (DHQ) hospitals across the province before the end of the current financial year.
Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi issued the directive while chairing a high-level review meeting in Peshawar, stressing that the project must be completed on schedule to improve healthcare services for the public.
CM Calls for Faster Progress
During the meeting, the chief minister instructed all concerned departments to accelerate work on the hospital upgradation programme and immediately address any issues causing delays.
He emphasized that hospitals where work has progressed slowly should receive priority so that patients can benefit from improved medical facilities as soon as possible.
Afridi also announced that another progress review meeting will be held in three months, directing officials to present visible improvements by that time.
Rs33 Billion Project Underway
Officials informed the meeting that four PC-1 development schemes, with a combined estimated cost of Rs33.085 billion, have already been approved for the rehabilitation and modernization of the province’s 32 DHQ hospitals.
They added that the procurement of modern medical equipment worth approximately Rs2.55 billion has been completed, and the equipment has already been delivered to the respective hospitals.
According to officials, infrastructure designs have also been finalized, while civil construction work is expected to begin shortly.
Focus on Health City Project
The chief minister also directed departments to speed up work on the proposed Health City project, describing it as one of the provincial government’s key healthcare initiatives.
He said the project is expected to play an important role in meeting the province’s growing healthcare needs by providing modern medical infrastructure and advanced treatment facilities.
Other Healthcare Projects
Afridi also reviewed progress on several other health sector initiatives, including the Khyber Institute of Child Health, and instructed departments to ensure their timely completion.
He assured officials that the provincial government would provide the necessary administrative and financial support to complete these projects according to schedule.
Strengthening Healthcare Across KP
The provincial government says it remains committed to improving healthcare services by upgrading existing hospitals, expanding medical infrastructure, and ensuring better access to quality treatment for people across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Officials believe these initiatives will enhance healthcare delivery and improve patient care throughout the province.
