Samsung’s First Wide Foldable Spotted in Public for the First Time

Samsung’s upcoming foldable phones are expected to launch in July, and early leaked images have revealed what may be a new wider-screen design being tested in public for the first time.

According to reports from South Korean online forums and tech outlets, a prototype Samsung foldable was spotted in use while covered in a protective case to conceal its final design.

Wider Foldable Design Leaked

The device appears noticeably wider than Samsung’s current Galaxy Z Fold lineup. Instead of the tall, narrow form factor, the new model looks closer to a more compact, “passport-style” foldable design.

Tech observers say this could signal a shift in Samsung’s foldable strategy, offering a different shape aimed at improved usability when unfolded.

Camera and Design Changes

Early leaks suggest the device may feature a dual rear camera setup, unlike Samsung’s higher-end foldables that typically include triple cameras.

Reports also indicate the wider model could include a large inner display of around 7.6 inches, along with a smaller cover screen.

Possible Naming Changes

Unconfirmed reports suggest Samsung may change its naming strategy for the new lineup. The wider foldable could be launched as part of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series, while another variant may carry an “Ultra” branding.

However, Samsung has not officially confirmed any names or specifications yet.

Launch Timeline

The company is widely expected to unveil its next-generation foldables in July. Final details, including design, features, and pricing, will only be confirmed at launch.

If the leaks prove accurate, Samsung may introduce two distinct foldable styles—one focusing on a wider, more tablet-like experience and another continuing its traditional foldable design approach.
