EU Appoints Raimundas Karoblis as New Ambassador to Pakistan
The European Union (EU) has appointed Raimundas Karoblis as its new Ambassador to Pakistan. He formally assumed charge by presenting his credentials to President Asif Ali Zardari on September 10, 2025.
Ambassador Karoblis brings with him over 30 years of experience in diplomacy, international trade, and security. Before arriving in Islamabad, he served as the EU Ambassador to Tajikistan (2022–2025).
Throughout his distinguished career, Karoblis has held several senior roles in Lithuania’s government. He worked as Deputy Minister, overseeing EU affairs, foreign trade, and sanctions, and later served as Lithuania’s Permanent Representative to the European Union (2010–2015). From 2016 to 2020, he held the position of Minister of National Defence, where he managed key issues of defence and national security.
The new envoy holds a law degree from Vilnius University. He is fluent in Lithuanian and English, with working knowledge of French and Russian. Outside of diplomacy, he enjoys cycling, hiking, and cultural activities.
Ambassador Karoblis’s appointment is expected to strengthen Pakistan-EU relations, with a special focus on trade, security, and cultural cooperation.
