Foreign Investors Repatriate $1.7 Billion From Pakistan in 9 Months
Foreign investors transferred more than $1.7 billion in profits and dividends out of Pakistan during the first nine months of fiscal year 2026, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan.
The figures highlight ongoing financial outflows as multinational companies continue to repatriate earnings to their home countries.
March Sees Mixed Trend in Outflows
In March 2026, foreign investors repatriated $102.4 million.
- This marked a 35% decline year-on-year, compared to March last year
- However, it showed a 110% increase month-on-month, indicating a sharp short-term rise
Overall, repatriation between July and March FY26 reached $1.778 billion, slightly higher than $1.719 billion recorded in the same period last year.
Power Sector Leads Outflows
Sector-wise data shows that the power sector accounted for the largest share of outflows.
- Power sector repatriation: $427.5 million
- Increase of around 30% compared to last year
The financial sector ranked second, with outflows reaching nearly $405 million.
Other Contributing Sectors
Additional sectors contributing to profit repatriation included:
- Oil and gas exploration
- Cement industry
- Beverage sector
