Guatemala Win Central American Baseball Cup on Home Soil

Guatemala captured the Central American Baseball Cup title with a 9-7 victory over El Salvador in the final, played at Estadio Enrique “Trapo” Torrebiarte in Guatemala City.

The win secured the championship for the hosts in a tournament featuring four teams: Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and Costa Rica.

Big Fourth Inning Decides the Final

A decisive seven-run fourth inning proved to be the turning point of the match, giving Guatemala the momentum needed to secure the title.

Despite a strong fight from El Salvador, the hosts maintained their advantage and held on to complete a memorable home victory.

Key Performances for Guatemala

F. Menendez played a crucial role out of the bullpen, earning the win after pitching 3.2 innings. He allowed just one hit and three unearned runs while striking out six batters.

Offensively, F. Vizcaino stood out for Guatemala, finishing 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored, including a home run that helped drive the team’s scoring surge.

For El Salvador, L. Ramírez contributed two RBIs and a run scored in a solid batting effort during the final.

Honduras Secure Bronze Medal

In the third-place match earlier in the day, Honduras defeated Costa Rica 5-2 to claim the bronze medal.

D. Savala earned the win after pitching 4.2 innings, allowing two runs on just two hits while recording four strikeouts.

M. Cockborn led the Honduran offense, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Costa Rica’s limited offense came from O. Cabrera and A. Zapata, who recorded the team’s only hits.

Strong Tournament Finish

The tournament concluded with Guatemala lifting the trophy on home soil, capping off a strong campaign with consistent performances throughout the competition.
