Bayern Munich’s right-back Sacha Boey is set to be out for several weeks following a meniscus tear in his left knee, the club confirmed on Monday.
Boey sustained the injury during training on Sunday, and after a medical evaluation, it was revealed that the 24-year-old required surgery. “Sacha Boey has already undergone a successful operation,” Bayern Munich announced in an official statement.
This setback will see Boey miss several crucial matches, including Bayern Munich’s UEFA Champions League opener against GNK Dinamo Zagreb, scheduled for Tuesday at Allianz Arena.
The French full-back, who transferred from Galatasaray in January for €30 million (approximately $32.5 million) plus add-ons, has already faced injury challenges earlier this year, having missed 14 games due to hamstring issues in February and March.
Boey, who signed a contract with Bayern until 2028, will focus on recovery as Bayern look to manage without him in the coming weeks.
