Former Pakistan football captain Saddam Hussain has signed a two-year contract with Finnish Third Division club Kajaanin Haka, marking a new chapter in his professional career.

Announcing the move on social media, Saddam described the deal as “a new team, a new contract, and a new family.” He reflected on his journey from the football grounds of Malir, Karachi, to European club football, calling the opportunity “a dream that will define my career and open new horizons.”

A Trailblazer for Pakistani Footballers

Saddam’s move to Finland highlights his status as one of Pakistan’s most accomplished footballers. At the club level, he has previously played for Dordoi Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan, Salalah SC in Oman, and in Northern Cyprus. In Pakistan, he represented K-Electric, helping the club secure the Pakistan Premier League title.

The 32-year-old began his international career in 2009 with Pakistan’s U-19 team before establishing himself in the senior national squad. Known for his composure in midfield and leadership qualities, Saddam captained Pakistan for nearly three years, featuring in SAFF Championships and World Cup qualifiers.

Although he has been absent from the national team in recent years, Saddam is determined to make the most of his European opportunity.

Saddam Hussain’s signing with Kajaanin Haka is more than a personal milestone; it represents a breakthrough for Pakistan-born footballers on the European stage. His journey serves as an inspiration for young players across Karachi and the country, showing that persistence and dedication can overcome barriers, even in a system with limited opportunities.
