Pakistan to Introduce Its First National Esports Policy to Empower Gamers

ย Pakistan is set to launch its first-ever national esports policy and establish a dedicated federation for the gaming industry, marking a major step toward recognizing and supporting one of the countryโ€™s fastest-growing digital sectors.

The new policy aims to create a structured framework for players, developers, and professionals involved in esports. With nearly 60 million gaming enthusiasts across the nation, the initiative seeks to strengthen Pakistanโ€™s position in the global gaming landscape.

According to an official press release, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the Prime Ministerโ€™s Youth Program, stated that the move reflects the governmentโ€™s commitment to youth empowerment through digital innovation. He emphasized that esports is a multibillion-dollar global industry, offering immense opportunities through international competitions, sponsorships, and prize earnings.

Khan further noted that the government, under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, is taking concrete steps to expand digital avenues for young people, identifying esports as a key part of Pakistanโ€™s broader innovation and technology vision.

Pakistan has already made notable strides in popular international gaming titles such as Tekken and PUBG Mobile, with several players gaining global recognition. Officials believe that the new policy will help formalize this progress and provide a clear path for local talent to compete at the highest levels internationally.
