Indian Sikh Pilgrims Travel to Kartarpur After Religious Ceremonies in Pakistan

A group of 518 Sikh pilgrims from India departed from Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Hassanabdal on Sunday and travelled to Kartarpur after completing their religious rituals and participating in commemorative ceremonies.

The visit was held in connection with the death anniversary of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Sikh Guru. During their stay, the pilgrims took part in prayers, religious ceremonies and special gatherings held in remembrance of the revered spiritual figure.

Officials from the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), along with representatives of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, were present to see off the pilgrims as they continued their journey.

Security and administrative arrangements were coordinated by district authorities, police, and other relevant departments to ensure safe transportation and a smooth travel process for the visiting group.

According to Deputy Secretary Shrines Faraz Abbas, the arrival of such a large number of pilgrims for the occasion was the first of its kind in 14 years. He stated that the successful arrangements reflect ongoing efforts to facilitate religious tourism and provide access to important Sikh heritage sites.

Several pilgrims expressed appreciation for the hospitality and arrangements provided during their visit. They noted that the opportunity to perform religious duties at historic Sikh shrines in Pakistan was a meaningful experience.

The pilgrims also acknowledged the arrangements for accommodation, transport, security, and community meal services (langar), describing their visit as well-organized and respectful.

The group is expected to continue its pilgrimage itinerary through key religious sites before returning home.
