Mitchell Marsh Leads Australia to T20 Series Sweep Over Bangladesh
Australia completed a dominant 3-0 T20 International series victory over Bangladesh after securing a convincing seven-wicket win in the third and final match in Chattogram on Sunday.
Having already sealed the series with victories in the opening two games, Australia finished strongly by chasing a target of 110 runs in just 11 overs.
Captain Mitchell Marsh played a match-winning innings, scoring 60 runs from only 28 deliveries. His aggressive approach helped Australia take control of the chase from the outset.
Marsh and opener Josh Inglis provided a solid foundation with a rapid opening partnership. Inglis contributed 17 runs before being dismissed, while Marsh continued to accelerate the scoring rate and brought up his half-century in just 23 balls.
After Marsh’s departure, Matt Renshaw and Tim David guided Australia to victory with ease. David added a quick cameo as Australia comfortably reached the target.
Earlier, Bangladesh struggled to build momentum after losing early wickets. Stand-in captain Towhid Hridoy anchored the innings with an unbeaten 61, helping his side recover and post a total of 109 runs.
Australia’s bowling attack played a key role in restricting the hosts. Fast bowler Spencer Johnson delivered an impressive performance, taking two wickets while conceding only six runs in his four overs.
Speaking after the match, Marsh praised Australia’s bowling unit for creating the platform for victory and highlighted the contribution of the entire team throughout the series.
Bangladesh head coach Phil Simmons acknowledged that his side faced challenges with the bat during the series and emphasized the need for improved performances in future matches.
With the clean sweep, Australia concludes the series on a high note and continues to build momentum ahead of upcoming international assignments.
