The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) have recovered a large cache of illegal weapons from a vehicle on the M-5 Motorway near Rohri and arrested two suspects during the operation.

According to an NHMP spokesperson, officers attempted to stop a speeding vehicle after it was identified as suspicious. The driver allegedly ignored repeated signals to pull over at multiple points and tried to flee, prompting a pursuit by motorway police.

The vehicle was eventually intercepted near Rohri, where officers carried out a search.

During the operation, police recovered a significant quantity of weapons and ammunition, including:

  • 14 SMG rifles
  • 1 shotgun
  • 23 pistols (including .30 bore and 9mm pistols)
  • More than 18,000 rounds of ammunition
  • 89 additional magazines
  • 4 telescopic sights
  • 5 mobile phones

The arrested suspects were identified as Ubaidullah and Abdullah, who are residents of Peshawar and Kohat, respectively.

According to the NHMP, the suspects were allegedly transporting the weapons from Peshawar to interior Sindh.

Following the operation, the suspects, along with the recovered weapons and ammunition, were handed over to Sukkur Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing to determine the origin of the weapons and identify any individuals or networks connected to the alleged transportation.
