From planning to follow-up, PM kept fully informed on Trump-COAS meeting

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir Maintain Close Coordination After Meeting with US President Trump

ISLAMABAD — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received a full briefing from Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir following the army chief’s recent high-profile meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House, a senior source confirmed on Friday.

The source also revealed that the subsequent phone call from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Prime Minister Shehbaz was part of ongoing diplomatic engagement stemming from the Washington visit.

All developments—including the scheduling of the Trump-Munir meeting, discussions held, and follow-up diplomatic efforts—were closely coordinated with the Prime Minister and aligned with shared policy decisions.

“Despite some misinformation circulating, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir maintain regular and close communication,” the source said, emphasizing the unity between Pakistan’s civilian and military leadership in strategy and execution.

This strong collaboration is not new. During the recent military conflict between Pakistan and India, sources told The News that the Prime Minister and Army Chief stayed in constant contact, coordinating military, diplomatic, and political responses.

“Their partnership was based on trust, mutual respect, and shared responsibility, ensuring a unified and effective approach for Pakistan,” a source familiar with the country’s leadership dynamics explained.

The cooperation between the top leadership involved real-time, around-the-clock consultations and a continuous exchange of information between the Prime Minister, Army Chief, and their teams, highlighting a cohesive and coordinated approach to national challenges.
