China Defeats Thailand in Friendly Ahead of Women’s Volleyball World Championship 2025
Asian volleyball giants China and Thailand faced off in a highly anticipated friendly match on Tuesday in Bangkok, building excitement for the upcoming FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2025, which begins this Friday.
The match, held at the Hua Mak Indoor Stadium, featured cultural presentations before the first serve, creating a festive atmosphere for thousands of fans. China came out on top with a 3-0 victory (25-22, 25-22, 25-18). A special fourth set was also played with mixed squads from both nations, entertaining the crowd even further.
Li Yingying Returns for China
One of the biggest highlights for China was the return of star outside hitter Li Yingying, who missed the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2025. The 25-year-old attacker proved her readiness for the World Championship by starting the match and showing solid form. Middle blocker Gao Yi, another player absent during the VNL, also returned to action under head coach Zhao Yong.
Thailand Tests Full Lineup
Thailand used their main roster, including setter Pornpun Guedpard, opposite Pimpichaya Kokram, and outside hitters Ajcharaporn Kongyot and Chatchu-On Moksri. Despite the loss, the team viewed the match as an important tune-up.
Middle blocker Thatdao Nuekjang shared:
“It was a good opportunity to test our system and see what we need to improve. With the tournament just days away, we’ll use this experience to get better.”
