Pakistani Equestrian Usman Khan Qualifies for 2026 Asian Games
KARACHI: Pakistan’s star equestrian Usman Khan has secured his place at the 2026 Asian Games after a stellar performance at the international three-star eventing competition in Lignieres, France.
Riding his horse Eden of the Veret, Khan finished 6th overall in a tough field of 59 international riders, earning a score of 32.9 penalties. His performance not only confirmed his Minimum Eligibility Requirement (MER) but also made him the highest-ranked Asian rider at the event.
The qualification rules, set by the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI), require athletes to stay under 45 penalties in dressage, complete a clear cross-country round within time limits, and record fewer than 16 faults in show jumping. Khan achieved all of these with confidence.
Pakistan Outshines Regional Rivals
In the “Battle of Nations” team standings, Pakistan claimed second place behind hosts France, outperforming rivals including India. Indian rider Ashish Limaye finished ninth, while Khan’s consistent show pushed Pakistan ahead with a strong cross-country round and a flawless show jumping finish.
A Proud Moment for Pakistan
After the prize ceremony, Khan expressed his gratitude:
“Alhamdulillah, competing against some of the world’s best riders and securing qualification for the Asian Games is a proud moment. Representing Pakistan and placing second in team standings adds to the achievement.”
Looking Ahead to the Asian Games 2026
Usman Khan’s qualification is another milestone for Pakistan in international equestrian sports. At the Asian Games, eventing will once again test riders across dressage, cross-country, and show jumping – and Khan is determined to make his mark.
With his qualification now secured, Pakistan’s hopes for equestrian success at the 2026 Asian Games are stronger than ever.
