Karachi Colleges Delay First-Year Admissions, Students Await Portal Launch

The Sindh College Education Department has delayed the start of first-year intermediate admissions in government colleges across Karachi, leaving thousands of students waiting for the online application process to begin.

According to officials, the admission process under the Centralized Admission Policy (SECCAP) was scheduled to begin on June 1. However, the online portal has not yet been activated due to technical issues.

Each year, approximately 125,000 students apply for admission to government colleges in Karachi through SECCAP. The system covers multiple academic streams, including Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical, Computer Science, Commerce, Humanities, and Home Economics.

Advertisements published earlier had announced that online registration would remain open from June 1 to July 15.

Officials from the Directorate of Colleges said the technical team is working to resolve the issue and restore access to the admission portal as soon as possible. They added that efforts are underway to ensure the system becomes functional without further delay.

Authorities have expressed hope that the portal will be restored soon, allowing students to begin submitting their applications for the upcoming academic session.
