PCB and CWI to Finalize Decision on West Indies ODI Series During ICC AGM in Singapore
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Cricket West Indies (CWI) are set to meet during the upcoming ICC Annual General Meeting in Singapore to discuss the future of the scheduled three-match ODI series in August. The series is part of Pakistan’s tour of the Caribbean, following their T20I fixtures in the USA.
According to Geo Super, the PCB has formally requested that the ODI matches be converted into T20Is to align with their preparations for major upcoming tournaments — the 2025 Asia Cup and the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup. However, Cricket West Indies is currently maintaining its stance on retaining the original 50-over format.
CWI has strategic interests in preserving the ODI leg. After missing qualification for the 2023 ODI World Cup, the board is focused on rebuilding its one-day squad. The upcoming series is seen as a key opportunity for player development, and preparations such as ticket sales for both T20Is and ODIs are already underway.
CWI CEO Chris Dehring addressed the situation, stating, “The schedule remains as it is, and we continue to engage with the PCB on the matter.” Talks between the two boards are ongoing, with a final decision expected shortly after the ICC meetings conclude.
As of now, the T20I series is confirmed to take place in Florida on July 31, August 2, and August 3. The ODI series, if unchanged, will follow on August 8, 10, and 12 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad.
Pakistan’s tour of the USA and the Caribbean comes immediately after their T20I series against Bangladesh. The PCB is holding off on final squad announcements until the conclusion of discussions in Singapore.
Cricket fans worldwide await the outcome, which will determine whether the series ends with ODIs, shifts entirely to T20Is, or leads to a compromise between both boards.
