PCB Opens Bidding Process for Two New PSL Franchises

   Nov 15, 2025

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has officially taken a major step toward expanding the tournament, as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has opened the bidding process for the seventh and eighth franchises. This marks an important milestone in the league’s growth and sets the stage for its most significant expansion yet.

In a formal announcement, the PCB confirmed that franchise rights for the new teams are now available. Interested bidders must submit their technical proposals by December 15, 2025, with all bids scheduled to be opened the same day at 11:30 a.m. Only parties that meet the PCB’s technical criteria will progress to the next phase.

The news puts an end to months of speculation surrounding PSL expansion. Since 2018, the league has operated with six teams, and the move to an eight-team structure aligns with the PCB’s long-term vision. Fans and investors have eagerly awaited this development, especially as the league’s commercial value continues to rise.

The introduction of two new franchises is expected to influence the league’s competition format, scheduling, and commercial opportunities. With growing interest from several regions, the bidding process is expected to be highly competitive.

The PCB has shortlisted six cities for potential selection: Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, Faisalabad, Gilgit, and Rawalpindi. The final two will be chosen through the bidding process, paving the way for a new chapter in PSL history.

As franchise valuations climb and market interest surges, the upcoming expansion is poised to redefine the league’s footprint. By mid-December, the PSL’s next era will take shape, marking a bold and ambitious step forward for Pakistan’s most-watched cricket tournament.
