Saudi Arabia Introduces ‘Hajj Without Luggage’ Service for Pilgrims

Saudi Arabia has launched a new “Hajj Without Luggage” service for the 2026 Hajj season to make travel easier and more convenient for pilgrims.

The initiative, introduced by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, will allow pilgrims to send their luggage directly from their home countries to their hotels in Makkah and Madinah.

Easier travel for pilgrims

Under the new system, specialized logistics companies will collect baggage from departure airports, transport it to Saudi Arabia, and deliver it directly to pilgrims’ accommodations after arrival.

The service is being implemented in coordination with the General Authority of Civil Aviation and other institutions involved in Hajj operations.

Officials said the initiative is designed to reduce congestion at airports and improve the movement of pilgrims during the busy Hajj season.

Faster airport process

With the new system, pilgrims will no longer need to wait at baggage claim areas after landing. Instead, they will be able to proceed directly to transportation buses heading toward the holy cities.

Saudi airline Saudia confirmed its participation in the project, stating that the service is expected to benefit more than 400,000 pilgrims across 145 international destinations.

Large-scale luggage handling plan

Saudi Post has also joined the initiative to manage luggage transportation and delivery services inside and outside the Kingdom.

Authorities estimate that nearly 1.1 million bags from pilgrims arriving under the Makkah Route Initiative will be handled through the system, with luggage expected to reach hotels within 24 hours of arrival.

The initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to improve the Hajj experience through modern transport and logistics solutions.
