Mohammad Rizwan Likely to Miss Pakistan Squad for Australia ODI Series
Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan is reportedly unlikely to be included in the national squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia.
According to reports, the selection committee is finalizing the squad in consultation with head coach Mike Hesson and captain Shaheen Shah Afridi. Sources suggest that Rizwan, a senior player and former captain, may not feature in the series.
It is also reported that the coaching setup is not currently in favor of Rizwan’s selection in ODI cricket, similar to earlier decisions regarding his role in T20 formats.
Rizwan, 33, has represented Pakistan in 103 ODIs, scoring 2,979 runs at an average of 40.08. His ODI career includes four centuries and 19 half-centuries, along with 113 catches and seven stumpings as a wicketkeeper.
In the recent ODI series against Bangladesh in March 2026, he scored 58 runs across three matches.
Reports also suggest that Ghazi Ghouri may be included in the squad after making his debut earlier this year. For the backup wicketkeeper role, selectors are considering Usman Khan and Mirza Saad Baig.
The Australian team is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on May 23, while Pakistan will begin training in Rawalpindi from May 22, including a practice match ahead of the series.
The three ODIs between Pakistan and Australia are scheduled for May 30, June 2, and June 4.
