Golden Knights Beat Avalanche 4-2 in Western Conference Final Opener
Vegas Golden Knights secured a 4-2 victory over the Colorado Avalanche in Game 1 of the Western Conference Final on Wednesday night.
Dylan Coghlan scored his first playoff goal to give Vegas early momentum, while goaltender Carter Hart delivered an impressive performance with 36 saves.
The Golden Knights built a 3-0 lead before Colorado attempted a late comeback in the third period. Gabriel Landeskog scored a power-play goal to cut the deficit to 3-2 with just over two minutes remaining.
However, Nic Dowd sealed the win for Vegas with an empty-net goal in the closing moments of the game.
Pavel Dorofeyev and Brett Howden also found the net for the Golden Knights, who capitalized on defensive mistakes by Colorado. The Avalanche were without star defenseman Cale Makar, who missed the game due to an upper-body injury.
Vegas head coach John Tortorella praised Dylan Coghlan’s fearless performance, noting the defenseman’s impact since joining the lineup during the playoffs.
The Golden Knights maintained strong defensive pressure throughout the game, blocking 23 shots and limiting Colorado’s speed in key areas of the ice.
