Pakistan to Launch Fully Digital Passport Fee Payment System
Pakistan has decided to introduce a fully digital payment system for passport fees in an effort to make the process faster, easier, and more transparent for citizens.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Director General Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa. Representatives from National Bank of Pakistan, JazzCash, Easypaisa, and other institutions also attended the session.
Officials said the initiative is being introduced in line with the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Interior Ministry to modernize public services through digital technology.
During the meeting, Muhammad Ali Randhawa directed authorities to implement a modern payment system that would eliminate the need for citizens to stand in long bank queues for passport fee submission.
All participating institutions assured full cooperation for the early rollout of the cashless system.
Authorities also reviewed steps to improve overall service quality at passport offices, with a focus on faster processing, greater transparency, and improved facilities for the public.
As part of these efforts, Muhammad Ali Randhawa visited the Regional Passport Office in G-10, Islamabad, where he inspected service arrangements and met with citizens to hear their concerns and complaints.
Officials said the DG also reviewed the cashless payment system already operating at the office and expressed satisfaction over its implementation.
According to Randhawa, the use of modern technology is helping increase transparency and improve convenience for citizens seeking passport services.
